Delayed turn off for blower motor causing humidity issues

Delayed turn off for blower motor causing humidity issues

  • Delayed turn off for blower motor causing humidity issues HELP!

When our hvac cools and then turns off. The blower motor runs for 90 seconds after. In that 90 seconds it adds all the humidity it just removed from the house back to it. How do we stop this!?

We have a newer carrier system.

    No way

    Ain’t going to happen

    How do you measure this?

  • We have sensors in the house and can feel it. And have had a meter in duct grill when just the fan is running and humidity rises as soon as cooling is stopped and the delayed turn off for the fan happens.

Have you reached out to the installing contractor to verify the setup on this system?

Can you provide the model number of your new system?

  • Yes they aren’t sure if that delay can be turned off. Or why it a happening.

    Here’s the model number: FV4C

  • Yes that can be changed. Ask them to come out and setup the air handler ON / OFF Delay so the unit operates as you want it to. There are several options, all outlined in the installation manual.

Your thermostat may also have a delay feature for the fan. That should be turned off since the FV4C has better options.

Ask if they setup air flow properly for your system / house or just left everything at factory defaults.

  • The delay isn’t adding humidity.

  • Ok then what is happening during that 90 seconds that makes the air coming out of the ducts 65% humid….

Please tell me how the humidity removed during the cooling cycle that, let’s say is 10 minutes, is added in 90 seconds. The humidity removed is not being added. What type of run times are you experiencing with your newer system?

RH needs to be checked at the return air not the supply!
