(PVE) Polyvinyl Ether Oil for Trane Variable Speed Compressors?
Im having a difficult time trying to locate the (PVE) polyvinyl ether oil for the Trane variable speed compressors, part number: OIL00305It seems to be readily available in a few other brands in the ISO 32 & 68 viscosity ratings.
I’m just wondering what oil type to use that would be comparable to the original viscosity grade?

I would contact Trane for that information!

The local Trane supplier said it’s available from Global Parts Industries and they only have the POE oil available?

W O W
Pve is more miscible and returns better in long line sets and at lower velocities than poe.The moisture part in the attachment is bs. Pve can hold ten x as much moisture as poe before issues, but absorbs it 10 x faster, net effect is about the same.
Couple of years ago, all pve oil was imported from one source adding to cost and availability.
I think copeland is exclusively 32 now makes me wonder if trane is the same

I will check with my Nu Calgon rep tomorrow to see if the PVE oil I stock is compatible with Trane.

I know enough to know, I don’t know enough
Why is it that those who complain the most contribute the least?
MONEY CAN’T BUY HAPPINESS. POVERTY CAN’T BUY ANYTHING

I believe it was imported from Idemitsu Kosan Global.
The PVE oil is four times more hygroscopic than POE oil, but the moisture is less of a concern since PVE does not break down to form acids.
If you pull long deep vacuum, you can remove the moisture from the oil while the POE oil turns into sludge.

Im not certain who make this compressor its Trane 4-Ton XV18 unit with a variable speed inverter drive controlled compressor.
Compressor model: RPA035A1CPA part number: COM10830 that holds 45-Ounces or 1.33-Liters of PVE oil.
It could be an Alliance-Copeland or Danfoss brand compressor, but it just says Trane Inc.
Try a supplier that is supporting VRF. Theyve been using pve for years.

That would be great if it’s compatible.
It says on the Nu Calgon website their PVE oil is tested & approved by many OEM manufacturers, including:
Danfoss Scroll Technologies
Bitzer
Tecumseh
Daikin
Hitachi
Mitsubishi
Sanyo
LG
Samsung
Panasonic
Galanz* Nu-Calgons FVC32D and FVC68D lubricants will handle most service situations.
* However, several OEMs recommend a FV50S PVE lubricant for their systems, often in applications where the oil is not serviced.
