I do them every job, but usually I get a deer in the headlights look.

I explain to the customer the value and usually I can convince them, but more often than not they just want it to blow cold or hot.

  • They are required by code here for any changeouts. You can’t get a permit without one. If anyone needs one, I can run it for you. I don’t charge much compared to others. Not sure if this is allowed in posts, so please remove it if I am not compliant.

Permit? What’s that and how do you pronounce it?

I’m tired of these mediocre “semi flammable” refrigerants. If we’re going to do it let’s do it right.

Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

and does the building depart check them or just file it away?

A/C Permit here is a site plan where the condensing unit is going. Another words a TAX and that’s it!

Yes, they do come out and inspect. I think it may be because Colorado does not require a license for HVAC.

Depends on the service call problem. If a unit is short cycling and/or not keeping the house warm or cool then sure.

They want to see a manual J & S before they give us the permit. Also manual D if we are installing ductwork. And they also inspect the installation before signing off.

I’m not sure why they skip manual T.
