Trane mod THP 050A 936A2 heat exchanger

I have a Trane THP 050A 936A2. I know it is old. I think the date of manufacture is 1989. It is in an attic. So, it is in great shape. The compressor has worked without a problem. Everyone I have talked to says compressors in new units will not last that long. So, I would like to just replace the heat exchanger. I can not find the part number for the heat exchanger anywhere. Is there a part number that will work?

    What heat exchanger?

That unit is 30 + years old.

You should really consider replacing it!

We do not assist with sourcing parts on this forum.

With that said, this heat exchanger is no longer available from Trane, and the furnace will need to be replaced.

It would be an unwise financial choice to put money into a unit that old.
And who’s to say the heat exchanger is faulty? Have it checked. Make sure the unit is running as it should. If all is ok then keep running it if you wish.

  • You could replace just the furnace and not the outdoor unit.
